Answers about behind-the-wheel requirements, DMV test preparation, scheduling, and pricing for teen and adult driving programs.
Everything you need to know before booking your first lesson.
For teen drivers (under 18) you must have a valid California learner’s permit before starting behind-the-wheel training, and have completed a DMV-approved driver’s education course. For adults (18+) you can start with just a valid California instruction permit. No prior driving experience is required.
In California you must be at least 15 years and 6 months old to obtain a learner’s permit and begin behind-the-wheel training. You can start driver’s education (classroom instruction) at 15 years old.
Complete an approved driver’s education course (if under 18), visit your local DMV with proper identification and proof of residency, pass the written knowledge test and vision test, and pay the application fee. Once you have your permit, you can schedule behind-the-wheel lessons with us!
Our standard driving lessons are 2 hours long, enough time for meaningful practice while avoiding fatigue. For teens under 18, California requires a minimum of 6 hours of professional behind-the-wheel training, typically completed in three 2-hour sessions.
We require at least 24 hours notice for cancellations or rescheduling. Cancellations made less than 24 hours before the scheduled lesson may be subject to a fee. If an emergency happens, please contact us as soon as possible.
Bring your valid California learner’s permit (required by law), comfortable clothing, closed-toe shoes (no sandals), and glasses or contacts if you wear them for driving. Everything else, including the training vehicle, is provided by us.
We offer flexible scheduling Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Call (805) 834-8139 or book online.
